Santa Margarita 2008

In September of 2008 we headed to Santa Margarita for a weekend trip.  I don't have a lot of information on this, and we didn't take too many pictures.  But the biggest memory of this place was the beehive we apparently parked our camper on, which is most likely why we did not take too many photos.  When we were cooking dinner they were trying to get into our screened in tent.  One piece of chicken that we did not eat we through out to attract them away from our campsite, they swarmed it.  The next morning it was gone, leaving us to imagine the bees ate it, however, most likely it was eaten by a coyote or racoons, but we like to think the Killer Bees of Margarita ate it.

"Mommy I really want to go outside"

"No sweetie, there are killer bees out there right now"

On our way back we spent some time in Santa Barbara

Here we are parked just outside the Santa Barbara Historical Museum.

Pinery park camping

Apparently after our trip to Utah, we took quite a camping hiatus.

The next known/remembered camping trip we took was in July of 2008.  There were more than just a few family changes in the 3 years since Utah.  We were officially married in April of 2006, had a 1 year old baby girl Josephine born March 2007, and were living in California.  We also had two dogs, Hamlet (a Weimaraner) was added in 2006.  In July of 2008 we headed on trip to Canada with my sister Kate, brother-in-law James, and their daughter Anna.

We visited Pinery Park in southwestern Ontario.  It was a fun quiet trip on the shores of Lake Huron.
Josephine and cousin Anna excited to get to the campground!
Probably the strongest memory I have of this place is Anna wanting/loving to push J around in the stroller.
Josephine having a refreshment at the beach.
My sister Kate, Anna, and James at the Beach.
Sarah and J, Kate and Anna getting ready for the hike, both girls fell asleep on this hike, I'm sure it was very relaxing.

Kansas to Arizona Trip, Mike and Sarah

Our next trip after the April 2005 trip was a summer trip to Lake Havasu, AZ in July of 2005.  NOT SMART.  Can't remember precisely but I'm pretty sure the temperature was 120+ (and it did not "cool off" at night) So after setting up our tent on gravel and desert weeds at the Crazy Horse Campground we attempted to sleep - it was WAY too hot to sleep, so we packed up and threw everything into our truck and headed north.  We ended up staying in a Quality Inn that night - we usually do not think of ourselves as wimps but going to Lake Havasu in July, in a tent, was just a little too much for us. The cool thing is we ended up driving to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Utah.  This turned out to be extremely enjoyable and probably much more relaxing then Havasu! So we lucked out!

A 'self-photo' in front of the Lake Powell.
We were able to rent kayaks which we used to paddle around Lake Powell.  It was neat because there were tiny islands we could land on to swim off of or sun bathe on.
On of our few actual photos taken using the waterproof camera feature.

Oklahoma Camping Trip

So this is the first post to our camping blog! Why not? This is the oldest camping trip I can find since my wife and I have been together.

This was taken of us on April 21st, 2005 about a year before we were married.  At this time only one dog and a tent.  I remember it raining quite hard the next morning and we put the tent down in the rain. This was at a campground in Oklahoma.

Kansas to Arizona 2003

Our next camping trip took place in June of 2003.  We went tenting in Arizona and headed back.
Here is our campsite in Flagstaff, AZ - KOA

Here is Sarah after a climb to the top of a mountain near our campground.  We were advised to bring a gallon of water each, not smart since they weighed so much and we didn't even drink much of it at all.

A picture of Sarah and I somewhere in AZ.

East Coast Pruss Camping

The first official documented and photographed camping trip we took together was in July of 2002 we visited different sites (with Mike's parents) in the Midwest and on the eastern coast.

This is Sarah and Mike in front of the Biltmore "America's largest home"

Here is Mike posing in front of the folk's camper - appears to be the same
day as the trip to the Biltmore since he is wearing the exact same clothes - but you never know.
